Overview

Lily is a digital service designed to simplify end-of-life planning by bringing together funeral providers, financial planning, legal resources, and family communication within a single platform.
Challenge

Planning after the loss of a loved one is emotionally overwhelming and functionally fragmented. The challenge was to create a unified service that reduces cognitive burden during an emotionally overwhelming experience.

Narrative

Lily addresses one of the most emotionally complex experiences by consolidating fragmented funeral planning tasks into a single, user-centered platform. Through primary and secondary research (including interviews with the recently bereaved, those planning their own end-of-life services, and several funeral service providers), we completed robust journey mapping and interface design. This free to use platform provides the grieving with a digital system that not only supports, but guides logistical, financial, and emotional decisions during periods of intense stress. Lily operates on a B2B model, generating revenue through partnerships with funeral service providers who pay to be listed and matched with families on the platform. Lily also retains a percentage of all sales and loans acquired through Lily's financial section. By shifting the cost away from grieving families, Lily positions itself as both an advocate and support system for the bereaved, providing price transparency, clarity, and actionable steps during a time of uncertainty.
